Two-Day Event Celebrates Comics, Creativity, and Community
Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) will host its 10th annual MoComCon on Friday and Saturday, March 20–21, with events at Germantown Library and BlackRock Center for the Arts in Germantown. MoComCon 2026 is a free, family-friendly celebration of comics, storytelling, visual art, and community engagement.
The two-day event invites fans, families, creators, and learners of all ages to explore the world of comics and creative media. It will feature artist panels, workshops, and contests. Attendees can meet local and regional comic writers, illustrators, and content creators; participate in drawing and design workshops; and explore curated displays of graphic novels and independent comics from MCPL’s collections.
MoComCon 2026 will take place from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, March 20, at BlackRock Center for the Arts, 12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown. Friday evening programming is designed for teens (ages 13-17) and adults (18 and older).
On Saturday, March 21, events will take place from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at both locations. Germantown Library, located at 19840 Century Blvd. in Germantown, will offer programming for children and families, including storytelling, drawing stations, and interactive comic creation activities. BlackRock Center for the Arts will host special programming and events for teens and adults, including the popular cosplay contest.
“MoComCon has grown into something really special for Montgomery County,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “Our libraries have created a space where young people, families, artists, and lifelong fans can come together around storytelling, creativity, and imagination. This event gives aspiring writers and artists a place to share their work. They connect teens and families with positive, inclusive, and welcoming creative outlets. And they remind us that literacy takes many forms, including comics, graphic novels, and visual art. I want to thank Montgomery County Public Libraries, the Friends of the Library, BlackRock Center for the Arts, and all the community partners who make this event possible.”
The event also will include special guest appearances, artist signings, and opportunities for attendees to showcase their own work. A dedicated area for local and emerging creators will provide a platform for new voices in comics to share projects and connect with fans.
