Montgomery County Office of Procurement to Host ‘Montgomery County is Open for Business’ Event on Monday, March 31 in Silver Spring
For Immediate Release: Wednesday, March 19, 2025
The Montgomery County Office of Procurement will host a “Montgomery County is Open for Business” event from 9 a.m.- noon on Monday, March 31 at the Silver Spring Civic Building, located at 1 Veterans Place in Silver Spring. The event aims to help Federal contractors explore new opportunities by engaging with local government. As Federal contractors in the County adapt to changing market conditions, the event will provide a platform for businesses to connect, collaborate and discover new opportunities for stability and growth.
Attendees will learn how to do business with the County through a panel discussion and presentation. Local procurement offices and organizations, including the Montgomery County Business Center, Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, WSSC Water, City of Rockville and WMATA, will have exhibit tables.
“Montgomery County has long been home to many Federal contractors, and as they face changes in Federal spending, we want them to know that there are opportunities with our County government,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “Local governments like ours rely on businesses of all sizes to help us deliver services and complete projects. This event is one way we can make sure companies—especially small, minority, veteran and women-owned businesses—have a clear path to connect with us and compete for work in the County.”

Businesses also can register onsite for the County’s vendor database, which allows them to receive information about contract opportunities with Montgomery County government.
“We regularly interact with vendors at outreach events,” said Ash Shetty, director and chief procurement officer of the Office of Procurement. “I attended an event a few weeks ago and vendors mentioned their concern about Federal contracts being reduced or eliminated. This is especially of concern for minority, female and disabled-owned businesses that fall under the 8(a) program. We quickly organized this event to show these vendors that procurement opportunities are also available with Montgomery County.”
The event is free but advance registration is encouraged. Register for the event on the Eventbrite website . For more information, visit the Office of Procurement’s website .
