Montgomery County Government Will Be Open Tuesday, Jan. 7 with Liberal Leave for Non-Essential Employees

For Immediate Release: Monday, January 6, 2025

Montgomery County Government will be open Tuesday, Jan. 7, with optional liberal leave for non-essential County employees.

County-provided trash and recycling collections are canceled on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Collections will resume on a sliding schedule, with the last collection taking place on Monday, Jan. 13.

Residents are encouraged to call government facilities before visiting to ensure there has not been unforeseen closure due to weather impact.

Montgomery County Public Schools will be closed on Tuesday, Jan. 7. Because of the MCPS closures, Recreation programs are affected:

  • All scheduled programs, classes and activities are canceled.
  • Recreation, senior and aquatic centers will be open for drop-in activities only.
  • Aquatic centers will open at 8:30 a.m.
  • Senior centers will open at 10 a.m.
