Applications Due Friday, Aug. 7 for Board That Will Help Guide County Arts and Humanities Programs and Funding
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich is seeking applicants to serve on the newly restructured Board of Directors for the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County (AHCMC). The Board will be the first appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the Montgomery County Council under the Council’s updated governance structure.
The Board of Directors will provide governance and strategic oversight for AHCMC, including responsibility for its finances, grantmaking programs, and long-term planning to support arts and humanities initiatives throughout the County.
“Our arts and humanities community is one of Montgomery County’s greatest strengths and most important economic assets,” said County Executive Elrich. “Supporting our artists, cultural organizations, and residents is essential. As we appoint this Board for the first time, I want it to reflect the creativity, diversity, and dedication of the people who make our cultural community so vibrant. I encourage residents who care about the arts and humanities in Montgomery County to apply and help carry this work forward.”

The Board will include members with a range of backgrounds and experiences, including artists, writers, scholars, civic and cultural leaders, and residents committed to advancing the arts and humanities in Montgomery County. Appointments will reflect the County’s geographic, cultural, and community diversity. Two ex officio members will serve on the Board from Montgomery County government, including one representative from the Department of Recreation.
Board members will serve three-year terms. Positions are voluntary and unpaid, but members may be reimbursed for reasonable expenses.
Applications must be submitted by Friday, Aug. 7.
