Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Councilmembers Sidney Katz and Evan Glass to Host Press Conference on Redevelopment Plans for New Transit Center at Lakeforest Mall Site – Mocofeed

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, Councilmember Sidney Katz and Evan Glass will be joined by Maryland State Delegate Julie Palakovich Carr, WRS Inc. Realty Investments Principal Kevin Rogers, City of Gaithersburg Mayor Jud Ashman, Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) Director Chris Conklin, and other area leaders for a ceremony to mark the beginning of a partnership between the County and WRS Realty to relocate and upgrade the Lakeforest Transit Center. 

The new transit center is part of a plan to transform the closed Lakeforest Mall into a mixed-use development that will support residential housing, entertainment and shopping and public gathering spaces. Lakeforest Mall opened in 1978 and served local residents for 45 years.

WHERE: 9670 Lost Knife Rd, Gaithersburg. The press conference is in the parking lot behind the current transit center, with the mall in the background. Ample free parking is available in a nearby, designated lot with easy access to the press conference area.
