Montgomery County Executive Elrich and Councilmembers to Receive Newly Available Novavax COVID-19 Vaccine Wednesday, Oct. 2, in Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, October 1, 2024

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Councilmembers, State officials and community partners will join Novavax officials toannounce the availability of the FDA-approved 2024-2025 Novavax COVID-19 vaccine at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2 at the Giant Pharmacy in Silver Spring. Several of the attendees, including the County Executive will receive the vaccine.

The Giant Pharmacy is located at 12028 Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring.

Novavax, headquartered in Gaithersburg, recently received final approval from the Food and Drug Administration to distribute a new COVID-19 vaccine. The Novavax vaccine is the only protein-based COVID-19 vaccine available in the United States.

County officials and community leaders are working together to encourage Montgomery County residents to get vaccinated now and continue the fight against COVID-19.

WHERE: Giant Pharmacy, located at 12028 Cherry Hill Road in Silver Spring. The event will be held outdoors in front of the Giant Store.
