Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s Highway Service Crews Responding to Storm Damage Across Montgomery County

For Immediate Release: Friday, June 20, 2025

Storm Clean Up

Following Thursday evening’s severe storms, the Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) Highway Services crews are actively responding to more than 170 reports of downed trees and storm debris blocking County roads and public rights of way.

As of Friday afternoon, MCDOT had received 174 service requests related to storm impacts. The majority of the reports came from the Bethesda and Colesville areas, which experienced some of the most significant damage. Crews were dispatched overnight and will continue to work through the weekend to clear roadways and respond to all reports as quickly and safely as possible.

“Our crews responded swiftly and are working diligently to clear roads and ensure public safety,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “We appreciate the public’s patience as storm recovery efforts continue and we urge residents to report any remaining hazards to help us respond as quickly as possible.”

Residents can report downed trees or debris on County-maintained roads and rights of way by calling 311 from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday (240-777-0311 if calling from outside the County) or submitting a service request online .

“We’re focused on safety and mobility,” said MCDOT Director Chris Conklin. “Crews are prioritizing emergency blockages and will continue working until all reports are resolved. In some cases, we may need to return later to complete full clean-up operations.”
