Montgomery County Department of Transportation and Partner’s Schedule for the Winter Holidays

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 18, 2024

Below are the Montgomery County Department of Transportation’s (MCDOT) and regional partners’ transportation-related schedule changes for the winter holidays.

Christmas Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 24

  • County/MCDOT offices – Open.
  • Ride On, extRa , extRa Lime , extRa Pink , Flex , Flash Orange – Will operate on a Weekday schedule until 10 p.m. View bus schedules here .
  • Flash Blue – Will operate on a normal weekday schedule.
  • TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center – Will be open 6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m.
  • Parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters – Follow regular posted rates and restrictions.
  • Metrorail – Will operate on a Tuesday schedule from 5 a.m. to midnight. View timetables here .
  • Metrobus – Will operate on a Tuesday schedule on Dec. 24. View timetables here .
  • MARC Train – Will operate on a R scheduled on all three lines. Learn more at mta.maryland.gov/marc-holiday-service .

Christmas Day, Wednesday, Dec. 25

  • County/MCDOT offices – Closed.
  • Ride On, extRa Lime, extRa Pink – Will operate on a Sunday schedule. View bus schedules here .
  • Flash Orange – Will operate on a Weekend/Holiday schedule.
  • Ride On extRa, Flash Blue and Flex – Will not be in service.
  • TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center – Will be closed.
  • TRiPS Mobile Commuter Store – Will be clos.
  • Parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters – Parking will be free .
  • Metrorail – Will operate on a Reduced Sunday schedule from 7 a.m. to midnight. View timetables here .
  • Metrobus – Will operate on a Sunday schedule. View timetables here .
  • MARC Train – Will not be in service. Learn more at mta.maryland.gov/marc-holiday-service .

New Year’s Eve, Tuesday, Dec. 31

  • County/MCDOT offices – Open.
  • Ride On, extRa, extRa Lime, extRa Pink, Flex, Flash Orange – Will operate on a Weekday schedule. View bus schedules here .
  • Flash Blue – Will operate on a Normal weekday schedule.
  • TRiPS Commuter Store at Silver Spring Transit Center – Will be open 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.
  • Parking at public garages, lots and curbside meters – Follow regular posted rates and restrictions.
  • Metrorail – Will operate on a Tuesday schedule from 5 a.m. to 2 a.m. View timetables here .
