The Montgomery County Council and Prince George’s County Council will conduct their annual bi-county budget meeting on Thursday, May 14, starting at 9 a.m. During this meeting, the Council is expected to vote on the WSSC Water System Development Charge (SCD). WSSC Water is proposing a 2.4 percent increase and a Consumer Price Index (CPI)-related increase in the maximum allowable charge to address an ongoing revenue gap in the SDC fund. The Transportation and Environment (TE) Committee recommended concurring with WSSC Water’s proposed 2.4 percent increase for Fiscal Year (FY) 2027 and the CPI-related increase in the maximum allowable charge.
At 9:30 a.m. the Montgomery County Council will meet to wrap up deliberations and reconcile Montgomery County’s FY27 Operating Budget, the FY27 Capital Budget and the FY27-32 Capital Improvements Program (CIP). Council votes on the overall operating and capital budget agreements are also expected, with final votes on the budget resolutions scheduled for May 21. Montgomery County’s fiscal year begins on July 1.
