Montgomery County Commission for Women Announces Women’s Legislative Briefing Keynote Panel: ‘Visionary Women: Shaping Tomorrow Together’ – Mocofeed

Posted on January 16, 2026

For Immediate Release: Friday, January 16, 2026

The Montgomery County Commission for Women will host the 2026 Women’s Legislative Briefing (WLB) on Saturday, January 31, at the Universities at Shady Grove, located at 9630 Gudelsky Drive in Rockville. This year’s keynote panel, Visionary Women: Shaping Tomorrow Together, features U.S. Senator Angela Alsobrooks, Lieutenant Governor Aruna Miller, and Maryland House Speaker Joseline A. Peña-Melnyk. The panel will be moderated by FOX 5 DC Anchor Marissa Mitchell.

The WLB is Maryland’s longest-standing women’s legislative event and brings together hundreds of advocates, policymakers, community leaders, and emerging leaders from across the state to inform, engage, and mobilize communities around issues impacting women and girls statewide.

The keynote session will explore how women’s leadership shapes policy, strengthens communities, and advances equity. Through conversation and reflection, these visionary leaders will share insights on collaboration, advocacy, and leading with purpose to create meaningful and lasting change for women and girls across the state. This session reflects the strength and impact of women working collectively to lead Maryland forward.

In addition to the keynote panel, the Women’s Legislative Briefing will feature:

  • A full day of breakout sessions focused on key policy issues and advocacy training.
  • An Emerging Leaders Program for middle and high school students, centered on leadership development and civic engagement.

Expert-led discussions with:

  • Members of the Maryland General Assembly.
  • Policy experts.
  • Leaders from state and local organizations dedicated to advancing the status of women and girls.
