Montgomery County’s Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) will celebrate the grand opening of its newest Liquor & Wine store in Gaithersburg at 9:45 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 10. The store is located at 18251 Flower Hill Way.
The celebration and ribbon-cutting ceremony will include elected officials and representatives from the alcohol industry.
“The upgraded Alcohol Beverage Services retail stores continue to be well received across the County,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “Strategically positioned, this location is convenient for Gaithersburg and areas north of it. By focusing primarily on spirits, ABS has created a model that complements and supports the local beer and wine businesses serving the surrounding community. ABS generates tens of millions of dollars in net income each year that help fund essential County services, which means that stores like this bring real value to our community.”
For the grand opening, two allocated products will be available exclusively at the Flower Hill location:

- Michter’s US1 Barrel Strength Sour Mash Whiskey
- Weller Special Reserve Wheated Bourbon
When the doors open at 10 a.m., all products will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. Customers may purchase a maximum of one bottle total of the allocated products.
From Thursday, Sept. 10, through Saturday, Sept. 12, the store will offer special tastings featuring spirits and local producers. Global spirits supplier Bacardi Limited will offer personalized bottle engraving with the purchase of its products, Angel’s Envy Cask Strength and Triple Oak bourbons.
The Flower Hill store offers a wide range of spirits and local products in a smaller, boutique-style setting. Its beer and wine selection will be limited to products made in Maryland.
The Flower Hill location will be open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and noon to 5 p.m. on Sundays. For a full list of ABS store locations and hours, visit the ABS website.
“The new ABS retail store at Flower Hill will provide customers with an elevated space and a carefully curated assortment of products,” said ABS Director Kathie Durbin. “This new location is designed to reflect our community by showcasing local products and providing dynamic service in a safe and inviting environment.”

ABS is Montgomery County’s alcohol wholesaler for beer, wine, and spirits and operates 26 retail stores throughout the County. ABS also manages alcohol licensing, enforcement, and education for more than 1,000 businesses.
The department generates tens of millions of dollars in net income each year. Those funds help pay down County debt, with a significant portion deposited into the County’s general fund to support services that would otherwise rely on tax dollars.
