Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services ‘Spirited Discussions’ Podcast New Episode Features Holiday Gift Giving – Mocofeed

Posted on December 3, 2025

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 3, 2025

Montgomery County Alcohol Beverage Services (ABS) has released the 13th episode of its podcast series “Spirited Discussions” and the latest episode, “Holiday Gift Guide,” offers expert tips on party gifts, stocking stuffers, and seasonal spirits.

ABS Kensington Store Manager Preston James and Adventure Wine Founder Robert Cavanaugh join host Jocelyn Rawat to discuss how to choose a wine to bring to a party, find unique and global spirits, and craft a signature cocktail for holiday gatherings. Seasonal favorites include eggnog, which marks the unofficial start of the season, mulled wine to warm a room, and a ready-to-serve lineup for travel days.

For gifting, guests recommend holiday sets with glassware or tools, fun miniatures, and the always‑reliable gift card that lets friends explore. When it is time to toast, sparkling wines shine with their rich history, bubble variety, and versatility in cocktails.

ABS recognizes the many ways families celebrate, whether with or without alcohol, and encourages everyone to handle alcohol responsibly.

“Enjoying time with family and friends means keeping everyone healthy and safe,” said ABS Director Kathie Durbin. “Please remember to include breaks, water, and food when you drink alcohol. Plan a safe ride home and always keep alcohol out of the hands of people under 21.”

Alcohol Beverage Services Podcast

Revenue from alcohol sales supports County services such as libraries, transportation, and parks. When residents purchase alcohol from an ABS retail store or any licensed establishment in Montgomery County, they “pour back” into the community.

The podcast helps residents and businesses better understand alcohol products, industry trends, and policies in Montgomery County. The podcast is posted on the department’s website and is available on several podcast platforms, including Amazon, Apple, and Spotify. Subscribe to the podcast by selecting the “follow” or “plus” button on your provider’s podcast platform.

ABS is the alcohol wholesaler of beer, wine, and spirits for Montgomery County and operates 27 retail stores throughout the County. In addition, ABS manages alcohol licensing, enforcement, and education for more than 1,000 businesses. Generating tens of millions in net income annually, its profits are used to pay down County debt, with a large portion deposited in the general fund to pay for resident services that otherwise would rely on County tax dollars.
