The Montgomery County Department of Police received a grant from the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation, a private philanthropic organization that supports initiatives related to national security.
The grant funded the purchase of an air safety cushion—an inflatable device designed to help prevent serious injury or death in the event of a fall by an individual in crisis.
MCPD officers traveled to New York City to receive specialized training from NYPD on the proper deployment and use of the device, as well as to develop best practices.
Because this was a privately funded philanthropic gift, MCPD will host a media presentation and demonstration to publicly thank the Diana Davis Spencer Foundation and to showcase this new life-saving capability.
Media, please confirm attendance with Public Information Office.
