For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 3, 2025

A Silver Spring man who was shot in June has died from his injuries, and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner (OCME) has ruled his death a homicide.

On Thursday, June 19, 2025, at approximately 1:11 p.m., Montgomery County Department of Police 3rd District officers responded to the 30 block of Hunters Gate Court in Silver Spring for a reported shooting.

A lookout was issued for Rogers. Officers located him nearby and arrested him without incident. A 9mm privately manufactured firearm with an extended magazine and a live round in the chamber was recovered.

Rogers was transported to the Montgomery County Detention Center, where he was charged with attempted second-degree murder and related offenses.

On Sunday, September 28, Montgomery County Police homicide detectives were notified that Jones had died while receiving care at a rehabilitation facility. Jones was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, and an autopsy was conducted on September 29.

On Tuesday, December 2, the OCME ruled Jones’ death a homicide.

The Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office will review the case and determine whether to pursue a superseding indictment charging Rogers with first-degree murder.
