Gaithersburg, MD – 34-year-old Mark Reginald Melton has been arrested in connection with an attempted first-degree murder that occurred on Friday, July 10, 2026, at The Angry Jerk in the 8200 block of Georgia Avenue in Silver Spring.
The investigation revealed that at approximately 10:34 p.m., Melton entered the men’s restroom and stabbed the victim multiple times before leaving the scene.
The victim was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening-injuries.
Detectives reviewed the business’s surveillance footage and obtained a description of the suspect. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Melton, of no fixed address.
An arrest warrant was obtained, charging Melton with attempted first-degree murder, first-degree assault, second-degree assault, and related charges.
Melton was arrested in Washington, D.C., by the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Regional Task Force. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he is being held without bond.
