Juvenile Charged with Silver Spring Commercial Burglaries
For Immediate Release: Monday, January 13, 2025
Gaithersburg, MD – A juvenile male has been arrested and charged for three commercial burglaries in Silver Spring .
The preliminary investigation by the 4th District Investigative Section revealed that the suspect entered a Tobacco Hut in the 2600 block of University Boulevard West on December 13, December 18, and December 29, 2024, stole merchandise and left the scene.
4th District Special Assignment Team (SAT) officers arrested the juvenile in Germantown on January 7, 2024.
The juvenile was charged with four counts of second-degree burglary, and then released to their guardian.

Why not detain him? He’s already committed 4 burglaries that the police are charging him with.Clearly the guardian isn’t capable of keeping the suspect under control, and in school. Don’t we have holding facilities especially for juvenile offenders, where they get counseling and other services to try and get them back on track?
