Impaired Driver Crashes into Takoma Park Police Cruiser

Gaithersburg, MD – Officers from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 3rd District have arrested an impaired driver after colliding with a Takoma Park police cruiser in the area of Piney Branch Road and Park Valley Road.
On Monday, February 3, 2025, at approximately 7:25 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the location for the report of a two-vehicle collision.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that a captain from Takoma Park Police was driving his police cruiser in the area when he was struck by an impaired driver.
The captain was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.
The impaired driver, an adult female, was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries, and faces DUI and other traffic related charges.
