Hybrid Public Meeting on the Martin Street Shared-Use Path Project in Silver Spring to be Held on Tuesday, Sept. 10
For Immediate Release: Monday, August 26, 2024
On Tuesday, Sept. 10, at 6:30 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a hybrid (in-person and online) public information meeting to discuss the proposed Martin Street Shared Use Path project in Silver Spring. The public will have an opportunity to provide comments and ask questions.
The meeting will be held in the Art Room of the Wheaton Community Recreation Center located at 11701 Georgia Avenue in Wheaton.
To attend virtually, you must register online . The day before the hearing, an email with a Zoom link will be sent to registrants. Written testimony carries the same weight as oral testimony.
At the public workshop, MCDOT will present project details, costs and schedules as well as obtain public comments and answer questions. Public input is encouraged and may influence the final design of the project.
The Martin Steet shared-use path project provides a 1,150-foot-long, 10-foot-wide paved pathway through a mature wooded area, connecting Arcola Avenue to Henderson Avenue in Silver Spring. This path will include 2-foot-wide buffers on either side and two local street crossings. The landscape evaluation will determine stormwater improvements such as rain gardens, educational stations on native trees and plants and lighting. The connectivity, access to natural amenities and related improvements will provide quality-of-life enhancements for County residents.
The public is encouraged to visit the project website and provide feedback via the online comment form or via email to the Project Manager, Cameron McAllister, at [email protected] . All information provided will become a matter of public record.
Interpreter services will be provided upon request with five business day’s advance notice. To request interpreter services, email Lori Main at [email protected] or call 240-777-7271.
