Honoring Top Supporting Services Employees

MCPS employs more than 10,000 supporting services staff members who work in more than 450 job classifications supporting operations and instruction. Up to three outstanding support professionals in each of the eight chapters are being recognized and awarded. The eight chapters are: Building Services, Food Services, Media and Technology, Maintenance, Office, Paraeducators, Security and Transportation.

The Chapter Employees of the Year are listed below. From the first place winners, three will be selected to advance as finalists to compete for Supporting Services Employee of the Year; one will be named the winner. Read more about the first place winners.

Chapter winners are:

Building Services

  • First Place: Alicia Vargas, Building Service Manager III, Sargent Shriver Elementary School
  • Second Place: Tiara Boynes, Building Service Manager III, Harmony Hills Elementary School
  • Third Place: Evelyn Guevara, Building Service Worker, North Chevy Chase Elementary School

Food Services

  • First Place: Michelle Li, Food Services Field Manager, Department of Food and Nutrition Services
  • Second Place: Awatef Soliman, Cafeteria Worker, White Oak Middle School

Maintenance

  • First Place: Michael Foxwell, Assistant Maintenance Facilities Manager, Division of Maintenance and Operations

Media and Technology

  • First Place: Bryan Nance, Media Services Technician, Montgomery Blair High School
  • Second Place: Banjo Oluwo, IT Systems Specialist, School Technology Support
  • Third Place: Rose Mach, Media Assistant, Col. Zadok Magruder High School

Office

  • First Place: Oscar Alvarenga, Newcomers Transition Coordinator, Department of International Admissions
  • Second Place: Anabela Almeida, Family Engagement Specialist, Department of Family Engagement
  • Third Place: Wynn Gambrill, Administrative Secretary, Garrett Park Elementary School

Paraeducator
