Free Fitness Passes Continue in 2024 for Montgomery County Residents

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, December 27, 2023

Montgomery County Recreation’s RecFit passes will be free for Montgomery County residents again in 2024. The free RecFit pass provides access to fully equipped fitness rooms, open gym (drop-in) activities and game rooms at any community recreation center during regularly scheduled hours.

In 2023, more than 100,000 RecFit passes were issued, a significant increase from past years. In 2022, there were 26,065 passes issued.

“One of our most popular services offered to residents is free access to the County’s fitness centers,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “Our gyms were made free in 2023 and I am glad that we are continuing to provide more in 2024. Free and equitable access to our fitness and recreation facilities help residents improve health outcomes without costly gym memberships. This is an easy way to help fulfill that New Year’s resolution to be healthier.”

Residents work out with equipment in the fitness rooms, as well as enjoy table tennis in the game rooms, drop-in pickleball, volleyball, basketball and more.

Residents can sign up for the pass in-person at any County community recreation center during regular business hours. The pass can then be used at any of the recreation centers. Many centers are operating on a holiday schedule Dec. 26 – Jan. 1. Proof of residency (a valid photo ID with an address or a photo ID with a current utility bill) must be provided by County residents to receive the free pass. Non-County residents can purchase a pass at a price of $20 for one month, $80 for six months and $150 for one year. Visit the website for more information.

If you signed up for a free pass in 2023 there is no need to get a new pass for 2024. Your pass will remain valid. Check out the RecFit playlist on YouTube to hear directly from residents across the County who used the free pass in 2023.
