Gaithersburg, MD – The driver wanted in connection with a fatal hit and run collision on Veirs Mill Road has been arrested.
42-year-old Gilver Yuviny Zelaya Diaz of Silver Spring was taken into custody of Wednesday, April 24, 2024, by the Montgomery County Department of Police.

Zelaya Diaz is accused of hitting and killing 26-year-old Jacques Price of Silver Spring on Monday, April 8 , and leaving the scene.
Through the course of the investigation, the Collision Reconstruction Unit located the 2009 Acura TL on April 12, in the driveway of Zelaya Diaz’s residence on Middle Road and traced the registration to him.

CRU detectives began a search for Zelaya Diaz, who remained outstanding until he was located by officers in Silver Spring.

Zelaya Diaz was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit and has been charged with failure to return and remain on scene of an accident involving a death.
