Gaithersburg, MD – The Montgomery County Department of Police Collision Reconstruction Unit has completed its investigation into a March 22, 2026, fatal collision that killed two men.
The driver, 24-year-old Daniel Danny Aguilar Medrano, of Rockville, has been charged with two counts of negligent manslaughter by vehicle.

The investigation determined that Medrano was driving a gray 2025 BMW M8 eastbound on Norbeck Road at speeds between 119 and 126 mph before losing control of the vehicle near East Gude Drive. The posted speed limit is 40 mph.
The BMW crossed the center median and struck a curb and pedestrian signal before overturning. The vehicle continued through the intersection of Norbeck Road and East Gude Drive, struck another curb and pedestrian signal and several trees before coming to rest in a drainage trench off the westbound lanes of Norbeck Road.
The front-seat passenger, 24-year-old Abraham D. Huracaya Del Aguila of Silver Spring, and rear-seat passenger, 24-year-old Alexander J. Medrano Cangalaya of Rockville, were pronounced dead at the scene. Medrano was transported to an area hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
As part of the investigation, detectives determined that the BMW was traveling more than three times the posted speed limit and that Medrano had a blood alcohol concentration of 0.09 approximately one hour after the collision.

On July 1, Collision Reconstruction Unit detectives presented the findings of their investigation to the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office. An arrest warrant charging Medrano with two counts of negligent manslaughter by vehicle was issued on Aug. 6.
Medrano turned himself in on Friday, August 28 and he was released by a District Court commissioner on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
