Detectives Investigate Series of Kensington Bank Robberies; Photos of Suspect Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a series of armed bank robberies that occurred in the Kensington area. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
On Saturday, February 1, 2025, at approximately 11:29 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the M&T Bank in the 10400 block of Montgomery Avenue for the report of an armed bank robbery.
The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, placed a handgun on the counter and demanded cash. The bank employee complied with the suspect’s demands. The suspect then left the M&T Bank with an undisclosed amount of stolen money.
On Friday, February 7, at approximately 10:08 a.m., 2nd District officers responded to the Capital One Bank in the 10700 block of Connecticut Ave for the report of an armed bank robbery.
The investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, brandished a handgun and demanded cash. The bank employee complied with the suspect’s demands. The suspect then left the Capital One Bank with an undisclosed amount of stolen money.
Detectives reviewed bank surveillance video and believe the same suspect is responsible for both bank robberies.
The suspect is described as a Black male, with a dark complexion, approximately 50 to 60-years-old, 5-feet, 10-inches to 6-feet tall.
