Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating an attempted strong-arm carjacking that occurred on Saturday, May 24, 2025, in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike in Bethesda. Detectives have released surveillance photos of the three suspects and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying them.
At approximately 6:24 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the location for the report of an attempted strong-arm carjacking.
The investigation has revealed that an adult female victim was working as a rideshare driver when she picked up three passengers in the 10300 block of Westlake Drive and drove them to the Medical Center Metro Station in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike.
Upon arrival at the station, the two female suspects got out of the vehicle. While the two female suspects were standing near the vehicle, the male suspect, seated in the rear seat, then began punching the victim while demanding that she get out.
Fearing for her life, the victim accelerated and made several sharp turns, which caused the the male suspect to exit the rear of the vehicle.
The victim then drove to the 8200 block of Wisconsin Avenue in Bethesda, where she called 9-1-1.
Detectives reviewed surveillance footage in the area and obtained photos of the three suspects.
