Detectives Investigate Piney Branch Road Suspicious Death

For Immediate Release: Thursday, October 24, 2024

Gaithersburg, MD -Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police- Major Crimes Division are investigating the death of a 19-year-old male in Silver Spring.

On Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at approximately 2:38 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the area behind a Ride On Bus stop located in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road and found Diego Edilberto Borja-Cardona, of Silver Spring, with trauma to the body. Borja-Cardona was pronounced dead on scene.

The decedent has been transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, where an autopsy will be conducted to officially determine the cause and manner of death.

This is an active and ongoing investigation.
