Detectives Investigate Kensington Pedestrian Fatality

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 23, 2025

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that resulted in the death of 16-year-old James Evert Anderson, of Kensington. The collision occurred on Sunday, September 21, 2025, in the area of University Boulevard West and St. Paul Street in Kensington.

At approximately 9:14 p.m., 2nd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the 3300 block of University Boulevard West for multiple reports of a pedestrian struck. Responders located a 16-year-old male pedestrian in the roadway. Despite lifesaving efforts, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. 

The investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the westbound lanes of University Boulevard West when he was struck by a 2023 white Nissan Murano traveling westbound.  

This remains an active and ongoing investigation. Detectives are asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call CRU at (240) 773-6620.
