Detectives Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a pedestrian fatality that occurred on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at the intersection of University Boulevard East and Langley Drive.
At approximately 8:59 p.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue were dispatched to the location for the report of a pedestrian collision.
The investigation has revealed that the pedestrian was crossing the eastbound lanes of University Boulevard East at Langley Drive when he was struck by a blue 2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent has been identified as 30-year-old Aman Abraham Gebreyesus, of Silver Spring.
The driver of the Jeep remained at the scene.
This is an active and ongoing investigation, and CRU detectives are asking for anyone who may have witnessed the collision to call (240) 773-6620.
