Detectives Investigate Fairdale Terrace Homicide; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating the homicide of 23-year-old Jonah Kimindo Mutua, of Silver Spring, that occurred on Saturday, March 8, 2025, in the 2700 block of Fairdale Terrace. Detectives are asking the public’s assistance in identifying the suspect.
At approximately 11:04 a.m., 3rd District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS) responded to the location for the report of a shooting.
Upon arrival, officers located Mutua with apparent gunshot wounds in the parking lot. Despite lifesaving efforts by a good Samaritan, first responding officers and MCFRS personnel, Mutua was pronounced dead on the scene.
Following an autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore, the manner of death was ruled a homicide.
