Gaithersburg, MD – Montgomery County Department of Police – Major Crimes Division detectives are investigating a carjacking, assault and attempted kidnapping of an adult female that occurred on Saturday, July 4, 2026, in the 400 block of Croydon Avenue in Rockville. Detectives have released a facial composite drawing of the adult male suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.
The investigation has revealed that at approximately 12:50 a.m., a lone Black male with a muscular build entered the victim’s vehicle, assaulted the victim and attempted to kidnap her. The victim was able to escape while the vehicle was in motion.

The suspect drove away in the victim’s vehicle, which was later recovered in the 11400 block of Parkvale Road in Rockville. She was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was wearing a dark T-shirt and shorts.
