Detectives Investigate Carrington Hill Drive Homicide; Seeking Public’s Assistance

For Immediate Release: Friday, April 10, 2026

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police Major Crimes Division are investigating a fatal shooting in Gaithersburg and are requesting the public’s assistance in locating any possible surveillance footage from the surrounding area.

On Thursday, April 9, 2026, at approximately 5:55 a.m., 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel responded to the 12500 block of Carrington Hill Drive for the report of a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 32-year-old Christopher Gove of Gaithersburg inside his residence, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. Gove was transported to an area hospital, where despite life-saving efforts, he was pronounced dead.

Shortly after locating Gove, officers were dispatched to the area of West Montgomery Avenue and Darnestown Road for a reported single-vehicle collision. Upon arrival, officers located Gove’s black Toyota Highlander, which was unoccupied.

At this time, there is no suspect in custody, and this remains an active and ongoing investigation.

Detectives are asking anyone in the Willow Ridge neighborhood, as well as the area of West Montgomery Avenue and Darnestown Road, to check their surveillance or Ring camera footage from the early morning hours of Thursday, April 9, 2026, for any suspicious activity—including any footage of a black Toyota Highlander or a possible suspect entering or exiting the vehicle.
