According to statistics, when comparing the first quarter of 2024 (1/1/2024 to 3/31/2024) to the first quarter of 2025, overall crime numbers have dropped from 1817 to 1330. Additionally, assault offenses have dropped 22%, theft and larceny by 19%, robbery by 36%, drug and narcotic offenses by 36% and motor vehicle theft by 60%.

“We are encouraged by the positive crime trends observed in the first quarter of 2025,” said 4th District Commander David Smith. “These results reflect the strong community partnerships, effective collaboration with agencies such as the Midcounty Regional Office, the support of local elected officials, and our officers’ continued commitment to problem-oriented policing.”

Targeted efforts to reduce violent and property crime—particularly initiatives focused on illegal drug activity—combined with increased patrol and community engagement, contributed significantly to the reductions.

The 4th District’s first-quarter success reflects a combination of increased patrol, targeted narcotics enforcement, and the continued efforts of officers and detectives.
