County Executive Elrich to Join Ceremonies as Montgomery County Dedicates New Gene Lynch Urban Park in Silver Spring on Saturday, June 10

Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich, County Councilmembers Natali Fani-González, Laurie-Anne Sayles and Kate Stewart and Maryland State Delegate Lorig Charkoudian will be among those joining community members at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 10, as the County and Montgomery Parks dedicate the new Gene Lynch Urban Park in Silver Spring. The park is named for the late Planning Board commissioner, who also was a civic leader and political activist. Members of the Lynch family will be in attendance.
The new 0.25-acre, triangular-shaped park is located at 8410 Colesville Rd. in the heart of Downtown Silver Spring, at the intersection of Colesville Road and Wayne Avenue. It is across the street from the Paul S. Sarbanes Transit Center and Silver Spring Metro Station. The park includes an open lawn panel for activities and events, terraced cast stone seat walls, a pergola structure with bench swings, other site furnishings, extensive landscape planting, irrigation and lighting.
