The tax credits would assist families with modest incomes, public school employees, those on fixed incomes and seniors
Montgomery County Councilmember Kate Stewart will be joined by Council colleagues, Habitat for Humanity, public school employees, and other community members for a press conference on Tuesday, Oct. 13 at 12:30 p.m., to announce a package of tax credit bills aimed at assisting working families, educators and older adults.
The three tax credit bills, introduced by Councilmember Stewart with current and former Government Operations and Fiscal Policy Committee colleagues, would expand tax credit options to homeowners, eligible Montgomery County Public School (MCPS) employees and families with modest incomes.
Bill 46-26 would establish a child tax credit for families with modest incomes in Montgomery County. Bill 47-26 would expand eligibility for the County’s supplement to the Homeowners’ Tax Credit (HOTC). Bill 48-26 would grant a $2,500 property tax credit for eligible MCPS employees who reside in Montgomery County.
Public hearings for all three bills will be held at 1:30 p.m. following the press conference.
