Councilmember Laurie-Anne Sayles to Host Community Town Hall on the Future of Waste Management in Montgomery County – Mocofeed

Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) representatives will explain the options, research, and timeline for making a decision and answer questions. Explain the waste management options under consideration, review relevant research and analysis, and discuss the anticipated timeline for Council consideration. 

Following DEP’s presentation, Councilmember Sayles will moderate a community discussion and Q&A focused on the potential fiscal, environmental, operational, and community impacts of the options before the County.

“Decisions about how Montgomery County manages its waste will affect our residents, our environment and County finances for years to come,” said Councilmember Sayles. “Before the Council moves forward, residents deserve clear information about the choices before us, the trade-offs involved, and a meaningful opportunity to ask questions and share their perspectives. This town hall is about transparency, informed decision-making, and ensuring community voices remain part of the process.” 

Residents from across Montgomery County are encouraged to attend, submit questions in advance, and participate in the discussion. 

Community organizations, civic associations, advocacy groups and other community partners are also encouraged to participate. Elected officials interested in attending as elected stakeholders are welcome to register in advance. Community partners and elected stakeholders who register by the deadline will be recognized in event materials and during the town hall.
