Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal single-vehicle collision that occurred on Sunday, August 4, 2024.

At approximately 9:53 p.m., 1st and 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to Shady Grove Rd., north of the intersection of Briardale Rd. for the report of a single-vehicle collision.

The preliminary investigation by detectives has determined that 20-year-old Saraha Aminata Tumoe of Gaithersburg, was driving a gray 1999 Acura TL northbound on Shady Grove Rd., when for reason still under investigation, she lost control of the Acura, left the roadway, hit a curb, rolled over on its side, before hitting a tree in the center median.

Tumoe, the only occupant in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene.
