Advisory: Press Conference Showcasing School-Based Behavioral Health Services

November 14, 2025

What:
(MCPS), in partnership with the Maryland Community Health Resources Commission (CHRC) and the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, will host a press conference to highlight behavioral health services provided to students and families through the CHRC grant. MCPS will be presented with a significant award to continue these important services.

Grants are projected to serve approximately 6,000 MCPS students, ranging from pre-k through 12th grade.  These grants build on the successes of grants implemented during the 2024-2025 school year — 81% of MCPS students demonstrated improved behavioral health outcomes and 93% of students and families reported satisfaction with services.  Funding was provided by the Maryland General Assembly as part of the Blueprint for Maryland’s Future.

Who:

  • Grace Rivera-Oven, Vice President, Board of Education
  • Dr. Thomas W. Taylor, Superintendent of Schools
  • Maryland Community Health Resources Commission (CHRC) representatives
  • Maryland Senator Cheryl C. Kagan (Montgomery County)
  • Community-based behavioral health partners

When:
Monday, November 17, 2025
10 – 11:30 a.m.

Where:
Quince Orchard High School
15800 Quince Orchard Road
Gaithersburg, MD 20878
