Adult Male Arrested and Charged with Motor Vehicle Theft

Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Investigations Division have arrested and charged 21-year-old, Jason Ronil Medrano Reyes of Silver Spring with the theft of a vehicle that occurred on Sunday, May 4, 2025.
The preliminary investigation has revealed that Medrano Reyes broke into the locker of the victim who was exercising at Planet Fitness, located in the 2200 block of Randolph Road. Medrano Reyes stole personal items and the keys to the victim’s car. By the time the victim realized his locker had been broken into, Medrano Reyes had left the scene in the victim’s 2019 white Mercedes-Benz.
Officers located the stolen vehicle in the 2200 block of University Boulevard and initiated a traffic stop, however Medrano Reyes failed to stop. The vehicle came to a stop in the 9500 block of Gwyndale Drive, after Medrano Reyes popped the driver’s side tire and then ran from the area, evading officers.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified Medrano Reyes as the suspect and obtained an arrest warrant.
On Tuesday, May 6, 2025, Medrano Reyes was located and arrested. He was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with unlawful taking of a motor vehicle, theft and other related stolen vehicle charges. He is currently being held without bond.
