On Tuesday, April 15, starting at 1 p.m., the Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) will hold a virtual (online) public hearing to discuss the possible disposition of 14 parking spaces in the Columbia Boulevard Public Parking Lot (Lot 12), located at 1920 Seminary Road, for the installation of electric vehicle (EV) charging stations in partnership with a private developer. The parking lot is managed by the County, is within the Silver Spring Parking Lot District and has entrances on Seminary Road and Sutton Place. The developer will provide 4 DC fast charging EV stations open to the public which will expand the EV infrastructure for the area. At the meeting, the public will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback.
In accordance with County regulation, a preliminary reuse analysis of the property at 1920 Seminary Road was conducted by MCDOT and the Office of Management and Budget. It was determined that the property is not identified for reuse in an applicable Master Plan or approved Capital Improvement Project (CIP).
Online registration is required by 5 p.m., on Friday, April 11, to attend. The day before the hearing, an email with a Zoom link will be sent to registrants. Written testimony carries the same weight as oral testimony. All testimony and information provided will become a matter of public record.
