The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is reporting a fiber-optic cable connection interruption that is impacting the live traffic view for approximately 450 traffic signals in the southern half of the County. The traffic signals are operating as scheduled, and are expected to continue to operate on schedule, without public impact.
With the potential for thunderstorms this evening, MCDOT is asking that residents report any traffic signal outages by calling the Montgomery County Police non-emergency phone number at 301-279-8000.
Typically, the MCDOT Transportation Management Center (TMC) receives reports when the fiber-optic connection is intact and the traffic system experiences outages. The fiber-optic interruption may span a few days.
