Gaithersburg, MD – Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – 4th District Patrol Investigative Unit have arrested and charged 24-year-old Elijah Gonzalez of Houston, Texas with theft and possession of a false government identification document.
On Tuesday, May 12, 2026, a victim’s credit card was used to make multiple unauthorized transactions at Costco. The following day, the victim contacted Montgomery County Police when notified of the fraudulent transactions.
The investigation determined that an undisclosed number of products were shipped to a CVS Pharmacy in the 3700 block of University Boulevard West in Kensington. Montgomery County Police responded to the CVS store and seized the packages as evidence. Officers were also informed by the store that a subject, later identified as Gonzalez, had come to the store requesting the packages.
On Tuesday, May 19, Gonzalez returned to the CVS store, demanded the packages and threatened employees. The CVS employees called Montgomery County Police, and officers from the 2nd District responded.
When Gonzalez was arrested, he provided a false government identification document. He was then transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was charged with theft: $1,500 to under $25,000 and related charges.
On Wednesday, May 20, Gonzalez was released on recognizance.
