Two media specialists are finalists for the 2026 Maryland School Librarian of the Year award, which honors a school librarian for exemplary service and outstanding achievements in the field of school library media. Alexandra Moses from Highland Elementary School and Daria Taylor from Clarksburg Elementary School are two of the top 10 finalists for the state recognition.
Laura Ellis of Wheaton High School and Melissa King of Flower Hill Elementary School, were also nominated for the award. To be considered, nominees must be a current member of the Maryland Association of School Librarians (MASL), actively working as a school librarian and serving in the same position for three or more years.
The winner will be announced at the Maryland Association of School Librarians Conference in October.
