The Montgomery County Board of Education is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on its five-member Ethics Panel. The appointment is for a three-year term beginning July 1, 2026. Panel members serve without compensation.
Under Board Policy BBB, Ethics, the Panel’s responsibilities include:
- Reviewing financial disclosure forms;
- Interpreting the Board of Education’s Ethics Policy and issuing advisory opinions regarding its application; and
- Conducting hearings related to complaints alleging ethics policy violations.
Panel members may not be current members of the Board of Education, school officials, MCPS employees, individuals employed by business entities subject to the authority of the Board, or spouses of such individuals.
The Panel meets annually to review financial disclosure forms and additionally as needed to consider complaints and requests for advisory opinions.
Applicants must submit a letter of interest and résumé or other supporting documentation by 5:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026. The appointment is scheduled to be made during the June 25, 2026, Board of Education meeting. Applicants are not required to attend the meeting; all applicants will be notified of the Board’s decision.
