For Immediate Release: Wednesday, October 11, 2023
Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich will hold his weekly virtual media briefing at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 11.
This week the County Executive will focus on a new federal grant to help close the digital divide. The County secured $22.78 million dollars in funding to distribute 60,000 computers to families who qualify under the parameters of the Emergency Connectivity Fund program. Although low-income families make up only 21 percent of County households, they represent 60 percent of households without computers in Montgomery County. This week the County Executive will be joined by:
- Anita Vassallo, Director, Montgomery County Public Libraries
- Mitsuko R. Herrera, Montgomery Connects Program Director, Office of Broadband Programs
The weekly media briefing offers reporters an opportunity to discuss timely and important issues with the County Executive, key members of the County Government and community leaders invited to the Zoom call. Members of the media who wish to participate in the virtual media briefing should RSVP to Tracy O’Connor at by 10:30 a.m. on the day of the briefing. Login information will be provided after receipt of the RSVP. Login information for the media briefing remains the same from week to week. There is no need to RSVP each week unless you are new to the call.
If you are not a member of the media and/or cannot gain access to participate, the briefing can be viewed live on the County’s Facebook page. It is also available on County Cable Montgomery at Comcast/RCN Channel 6 and HD Channel 996 or Verizon Channel 30.
