Silver Spring Man Killed in Georgia Avenue Collision; Victim’s Identity Released

Gaithersburg, MD — Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal collision that occurred on Sunday, April 12, 2026. The collision resulted in the death of 33-year-old Cristhian Francisco Trejo Portillo of Silver Spring, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

At approximately 1:17 a.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Georgia Avenue near Randolph Road for the report of a single-vehicle, rollover collision.

The investigation has revealed that a tan 2011 Cadillac Escalade was traveling northbound on Georgia Avenue when the Cadillac left the roadway and struck the curb, a concrete retaining wall, and a wooden utility pole before coming to a rest upside down in the roadway.

Upon arrival, officers located the driver trapped in the vehicle and unresponsive. The driver was extricated and pronounced deceased on the scene.
