RESCHEDULED: Earned Income Tax Credit Awareness Day and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Kick-Off Event in Rockville – Mocofeed

Posted on January 30, 2026

For Immediate Release: Friday, January 30, 2026

NEW DATE: Friday, Feb. 6

The Montgomery County Community Action Agency, in collaboration with the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) and the County’s Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) Partnership, has rescheduled the Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC) Awareness Day and VITA Kick-Off event to Friday, Feb. 6, in Rockville. The event was previously postponed due to inclement weather.

The event will highlight free tax preparation services available to Montgomery County residents and the significant impact of tax credits, including the EITC, for households with modest incomes.

A community resource fair will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., featuring local non-profits, VITA programs, and County services. The formal program will begin at noon and will include remarks from elected officials and County and community leaders.

The event celebrates the EITC, widely recognized as one of the most effective anti-poverty tools, and will spotlight free tax-filing programs that connect eligible residents to valuable tax credits, thereby helping many in our community move toward the Self-Sufficiency Standard.
