Montgomery County Commission for Women to Host 46th Annual Women’s Legislative Briefing on Saturday, Jan. 31 – Mocofeed

Posted on December 22, 2025

For Immediate Release: Monday, December 22, 2025

The Montgomery County Commission for Women (CFW) will host its 46th Annual Women’s Legislative Briefing (WLB) at 12:30 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 31, at The Universities at Shady Grove, located at 9630 Gudelsky Drive in Rockville.

CFW

This year’s theme—“Stronger Together: Leading with Vision, Voices, and Values”—emphasizes the power of collective leadership and highlights the importance of elevating diverse perspectives, fostering collaboration, and advancing gender equity to create a future where women and girls can thrive.

“For 46 years, the Women’s Legislative Briefing has been a cornerstone of our County’s commitment to equity, opportunity, and civic engagement,” said Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich. “The Commission for Women continues to lead with vision and purpose, ensuring that the voices of women and girls shape the policies that move our communities forward. As Montgomery County marks its 250th anniversary, the WLB reminds us of how far we’ve come—and how essential it is that we continue working together to advance a more inclusive and empowered future for all.”

The WLB keynote panel will bring together visionary leaders who are driving meaningful change across their fields. Panelists will reflect on past challenges and progress, while sharing forward-looking insights that emphasize how collaboration, innovation, and values-based leadership can shape a stronger, more equitable future. This engaging conversation will highlight the power of purpose-driven leadership and inspire attendees to consider their own role in building inclusive communities.

“The annual Women’s Legislative Briefing is more than a policy update; it is a call to engagement,” said Sheena Foster, chair of the CFW. “I am excited that these events bring women and emerging leaders together from across Montgomery County to learn, advocate, and connect around the legislation shaping our lives, our families, and our futures. When women organize, meaningful change follows.”

Attendees will be able to join a wide range of breakout sessions on key issues affecting women and girls, including:

  • Advocacy and empowerment strategies
  • Economic justice and equity
  • Human trafficking prevention
  • Reproductive health and rights
  • Sexual assault and domestic violence prevention

Sessions will feature members of the Maryland General Assembly, policy experts, and leaders from state and local organizations dedicated to advancing the status of women and girls. The WLB also offers Emerging Leaders sessions for students in grades 6–12. These interactive workshops focus on civic engagement, advocacy, and leadership development to empower the next generation of changemakers.

The event is open to the public. Early bird registration is $45 for general participants and $10 for students through Friday, Jan. 23. Prices increase to $55 after Jan. 23. Online registration is strongly encouraged, but tickets will also be available for purchase at the door.
