ROCKVILLE, Md., Nov. 6, 2025—The featured guests on this week’s En Sintonía con el Concejo del Condado de Montgomery (In Tune with the Montgomery County Council) will include Luis Aguirre, program manager at the Latino Health Initiative (LHI); Ana Arriaza, manager of partnership and engagement at the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP); and Mary Travaglini, program manager at DEP. The show will air on Friday, Nov. 7 at 2 p.m. on Radio America (WILC 900AM) and is streamed on Apple Podcasts, Spotify and Amazon Music.

This edition of En Sintonía features the Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). DEP is encouraging residents to “Leave the Leaves” to support a healthier environment. Leaving fallen leaves on lawns and gardens helps improve soil health, retain moisture, provide nutrients, and create habitats for pollinators and beneficial insects.

DEP also reminds residents that the use of gas-powered leaf blowers is prohibited in Montgomery County, helping to reduce air and noise pollution. Residents are encouraged to use electric leaf blowers as an environmentally friendly alternative.

The show will conclude spotlighting Montgomery County’s Asthma Program, a long-standing initiative led by the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) for over 20 years. Through the Latino Health Initiative (LHI), the program offers free asthma management workshops in Spanish for parents and caregivers of children with asthma.

Participants learn how to identify asthma symptoms, use medications correctly, and reduce environmental triggers such as dust, mold, and smoke to create healthier homes. The program has empowered hundreds of local families to better manage asthma and improve their children’s well-being. The Montgomery County Council and Radio America have entered a partnership that provides the Latino community with key information on issues and programs. The partnership also provides a forum for residents to express their views and ask questions. The partnership includes the weekly one-hour show each Friday on the Washington metropolitan area’s most popular Spanish language station.

Each week, the show features host Marcela Rodriguez, Council program manager and public information officer, and guests talking about important issues before the Council and provides information about programs offered by the County to help residents.
