Gaithersburg, MD – A Silver Spring man is in custody, charged with assaulting and attempting to rape a woman in the early morning hours of Friday, October 24, 2025. 
 
Detectives from the Montgomery County Department of Police – Special Victims Investigations Division have arrested 25-year-old Jerrell Lee Fullwood for attempted first-degree rape and first-degree assault. 

At approximately 5:26 a.m., 6th district officers responded to the 9800 block of Medical Center Drive for the report of a sexual assault. Officers arrived on scene, obtained a lookout, and located the suspect leaving the area on a bus. Patrol officers got on the bus and Fullwood was taken into custody.

The investigation determined that an adult female was assaulted while walking to a nearby bus stop. Through additional investigation, detectives reviewed surveillance video showing Fullwood walking behind the victim.  

Fullwood was transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he has been charged with attempted first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree assault. He is currently being held pending a bond hearing.
