Montgomery County Planning Board and Planning Department announce August 2023 Calendar of Events – MocoFeed

WHEATON, Md. – The Montgomery County Planning Board and Montgomery County Planning Department, both part of The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have announced their August 2023 calendar of events and meetings. While the Montgomery County Planning Board is on recess until September 2023, past meetings can be watched on demand .

For more details, review the list of events below and visit www.montgomeryplanning.org . These events are subject to change. Consult the Development Review Committee (DRC) and Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) websites for their agenda information.

The Montgomery County Planning Board is currently in recess. The first meeting after the summer recess will be held September 7, 2023 .

August Calendar of Events :

August 1 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet in-person and virtually . The community is invited to attend the meeting in-person or online by watching the DRC live video stream or viewing on-demand. The DRC is an inter-agency task force comprised of representatives from Montgomery Planning, public agencies, and utilities such as WSSC, PEPCO, the State Highway Administration, and the county Departments of Permitting Services, Environmental Protection, and Public Works and Transportation. At these regularly scheduled meetings twice a month, DRC members discuss development applications with the Applicants.

August 2 – Development Review Process Workgroup will hold a listening session for the public from 6 to 8 p.m. at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters, 2425 Reedie Drive, 2nd floor, Wheaton, MD 20902. The public is invited to sign up to provide feedback either in-person or virtually. Listening sessions are opportunities for the community to provide feedback to the Development Review Process Workgroup at a public meeting. All feedback provided will be considered when the Workgroup makes its final recommendations.

August 8 – Development Review Process Workgroup will meet for a public work session from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters. Watch the meeting live or on demand. The Development Review Process Workgroup was formed through a partnership with the Montgomery County Planning Department, the Montgomery County Executive, and the Montgomery County House Delegation to examine the county’s process for reviewing and approving development projects, with a special focus on ensuring the county remains economically competitive. These meetings are not a part of the regularly scheduled Development Review Committee meetings.

August 15 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet in-person and virtually . The community is invited to attend the meeting in-person or online by watching the DRC live video stream or viewing on-demand. The DRC is an inter-agency task force comprised of representatives from Montgomery Planning, public agencies, and utilities such as WSSC, PEPCO, the State Highway Administration, and the county Departments of Permitting Services, Environmental Protection, and Public Works and Transportation. August 16 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in-person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters with a virtual option available upon request. To testify on an agenda item, sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing.

August 24 – Development Review Process Workgroup will meet for a public work session from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters. Watch the meeting live or on demand.
