Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich’s Weekly Media Briefing at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10, to Focus on University Corridor Plan Proposal and Neighborhood Changes Through Rezoning – Mocofeed

Posted on September 9, 2025

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, September 9, 2025

Reporters interested in asking Montgomery County Executive Marc Elrich questions will be able to do so during this week’s virtual media briefing, which will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 10.

The County Executive will discuss the University Boulevard Corridor Plan and his opposition to the continued effort to ignore the master plan process. The proposal, under consideration by the Montgomery County Council and the subject of a public hearing on Wednesday, Sept. 10 at Blair High School, proposes wide-scale changes to neighborhoods through rezoning. It will be the first time the County Executive will testify during a public hearing. He will also use the media briefing to discuss Hispanic Heritage Month amidst fear within the Hispanic Community caused by increased ICE enforcement and the newly-released Troubled Properties List, which shows great progress in addressing issues through newly enacted regulations. His guest this week will be:

  • Cheryl Gannon, President, Montgomery County Civic Federation, Inc.

The weekly media briefings offer reporters an opportunity to discuss timely and vital issues with the County Executive, key members of the County Government and community leaders invited to the Zoom call. Media members who wish to participate in the virtual media briefing should RSVP to Tracy O’Connor at tracy.o’[email protected] on the day of the briefing. Login information will be provided after receipt of the RSVP. Login information for the media briefing remains the same from week to week. There is no need to RSVP each week unless you are new to the call.

You can view the media briefing live on the County’s Facebook page and YouTube page. Provided there are no conflicts, you can also watch the briefing on County Cable Montgomery.
